Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2015/16 school year at Kingsland Community Preschool! We are looking forward to a year of learning, play, friendship and community. Thank you for choosing Kingsland Community Preschool as your child’s first introduction to classroom education.
We are fortunate to have the expertise of Mrs. Nancy Eckart and Mrs. Tanya Green delivering and developing this enriching program. The teachers are guided by the Reggio education philosophy and integrate curriculum with the students’ developing interests as the year progresses.
Much of the success of our preschool is because of the experience, time, creativity and hard work that our teachers dedicate to our children. It is also due to the parent volunteers who give their time to support the school.
Kingsland Community Preschool is a parent run volunteer society and we are currently looking to fill vacancies on the board. We encourage parents to step forward and lend their talents and time to the Preschool. If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions please send us an email at: kingslandcommunitypreschool@gmail.com
Parent orientation night is Tuesday September 8th at 7pm in the classroom. It is an important introduction to the teachers, preschool program, expectations, routines, and volunteer opportunities.
We look forward to meeting you all on September 8th.
Sincerely,
Medeana Moussa

For Kingsland Community Preschool Board
We are excited about the upcoming school year! Following is some information about Parent Orientation and the first few days of school.
PARENT ORIENTATION
Parent Orientation is Tuesday, September 8th at 7:00 in our classroom. This is an opportunity for parents to meet the teachers and the preschool executive and to gather information on the upcoming year. We will talk about school philosophy, routines, classroom helpers, snacks and special events. This night is for parents only, so please, if possible make alternate arrangements for your children. Since many of the parents of the 4 year olds already know us and are familiar with the program, it is not crucial that you come to this meeting although you are more that welcome to attend. If you are new to Kingsland Preschool, please try to attend. We will have information available on the first days of school for those not able to attend the orientation.
3 YEAR OLDS FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL
FIRST DAY of School is Thursday, September 10th
This is our opportunity to meet your children. We will be mailing a letter to your child telling him/her when to come to school on the first day. The children will be divided into two groups and each group will stay for one hour.
For the morning class: Half of the children will come from 8:45-9:45 and half will come from 10:00-11:00. Parents are asked to stay with their child that day.
For the afternoon class: Half of the children will come from 12:45 to 1:45 and half will come from 2:00-3:00. Parents are asked to stay with their child that day.
SECOND DAY of school Tuesday, September 15th
Again the children will be divided into the 2 groups and each group will be attending for an hour only. This time, we will ask the parents to leave the children. Since it is only an hour, it is a good transition for children that are feeling insecure about being left.
THIRD DAY of school is Thursday, September 17th. All children will stay for the entire class. We will need not need a parent volunteer that day, but we will need a volunteer to provide a snack.
The morning class runs from 8:45-10:45 am Tuesday and Thursday
The afternoon class runs from 12:45 – 2:45 pm Tuesday and Thursday
4 YEAR OLDS FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL
FIRST DAY of School is Wednesday, September 9th and Friday, September 11th
This is our opportunity see the children again and to meet the new children. We will have a staggered entry on the first 2 days of school. We will divide the class into 2 groups and one half will come on Wednesday, September 9th and the other half will come on Friday, September 11th. We will be mailing a letter to your child telling him/her when to come to school on the first day. This will give us an opportunity to talk individually with each child and his/her parents. Parents will not need to stay. We won’t need a volunteer to stay those days but we will need someone to provide a snack.
SECOND DAY of school is Monday, September 14th – All the children will attend the entire class.
The morning class runs from 8:45 – 11:15 am Monday, Wednesday, Friday
The afternoon class runs from 12:45 – 3:15 pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Please call or email either of us with any questions or concerns that you may have.
Enjoy the final days of summer!
Nancy Eckart & Tanya Green
